1What IGCSE Maths is

The main maths qualification at ages 14–16 in many international schools, and the base for A Level or IB maths. Both boards use two tiers, so the entry decision matters.

4How you can help

  • Ask which tier your child is entered for and when the school decides: a Foundation or Core entry caps the grade.
  • For Cambridge, make sure non-calculator arithmetic and algebra are practised regularly.
  • Short daily practice is better than long weekend sessions; maths skills fade quickly without use.
  • Use mock results to pick two or three weak topics to fix, rather than revising everything equally.
